I grew up on the banks of the Yahara River. It was literally in my back yard. So that's my river of inspiration, but it really can be anyone's river of memory.This song started in a camper at the Sugar Maple Festival in Madison, WI summer of 2011 before we were asked to leave by the police. No campers allowed they said. Tim Johnson and I finished this up in the cabin in the woods near Minocqua, WI and in the morning a white deer was standing outside my window as I woke up. Maybe the spirit of the old oak tree.
