This song was written in the VA hospital in Milwaukee, WI with Alan Harisson. Al is a long time vet with disabilities stemming from his time in the service. We met as a part of the Guitars for Vets program. Please learn more about this program at www.guitarsforvets.com When I came home for awhile from living in Nashville I was a teacher for the program and Al kept saying he wished he could write songs like me. One day he came up with a guitar part and I smiled and said..."you like Johnny Cash, huh?" Well, we worked on it until the story unfolded and this song was born. I recorded it in 2011 with a great West Virginia musician I had met in Nashville named Dave McCormick. Dave and I recorded this at his house one night in Leiper's Fork outside Nashville. Thank you Dave!
